First post! [Introduction to game]
Well where do I begin! I decided to make this game for the simple fact it was a good way for me to get the hang of the basics in GoDot4, so I thought a 1-bit platformer would be perfect for that. Which it has, I've learnt alot in the short time I've been building this game. It was built just for fun and I surprisingly enjoyed building the project, although I will admit, I did use Chat GPT for help when it came to the coding, it helped alot if I'm being honest as I'm certainly no expert when it comes to coding!
I've had multiple challenges along the way but that's been the beauty of it, as it's even more satisfying when you finally manage to get something working how it's supposed to! This project might be basic to the current standards of gaming but I'm proud of it regardless. Because it was first going to get released with just 1 mob and key collection only. Then I added a spider mob which had cool mechanics which were inspired by the Sega game 'Land of Illusion', then spikes, then I decided to add falling platforms, then the flames, then I was feeling brave and I started building the rope system. All are classic platform mechanics and I intend to add even more mechanics such as wall jump etc.
Anyways, enough of me waffling on, I'm just happy I've wrote something down as I've been putting it off as this is the boring part of game dev to me haha but it needs to be done to share my game with the world.....that's if anyone bothers to even read it then I'm just talking to myself :D
If you've taken the time to read this then it is much appreciated and I'm looking forward to hearing any feedback if possible from anyone.
Thank you!
